Metropolis

One of my all time favorite movies is Fritz Lang's 1927 Metropolis, revamped by Giorgio Moroder 1984

Moroder cleaned things up a bit, added color tints for mood and visual enhancement and gathered popular artists of the time for an awesome soundtrack.

You can get it on DVD from Gil and watch the amazing crystal clear trailer for it on his website ... just beautiful.

Sweet Mango & Sticky Rice Roll

One of my favorite things to get at the thai restaurant is Sweet Mango and Sticky Rice. While researching the best ways to prepare it myself I discovered this fun creative recipe on She Simmers.com

Yummy.

First, you need to peel a ripe mango and slice it thinly lengthwise, with the knife blade on its side parallel to the pit.  This is done more easily with a mandoline.  If you don't have a mandoline. make sure your knife is so sharp it can cut your cutting board in half.  Without a super sharp knife, you really can't pull this off.

Then on a sushi mat, lined with a piece of plastic wrap, arrange the mango slices, overlapping, to form a 5x8 rectangle.  Scoop prepared sweet coconut sticky rice onto the mango slices a shown.

Then very gently and carefully roll everything up sushi-style, making sure the rice is entirely encased by the mango slices.  Using the sushi mat, lightly squeeze the roll to get rid of air pockets.  Gently remove the plastic wrap and cut the roll crosswise in 1-inch pieces.

Sprinkle some black sesame seeds on top, if desired.  Whatever you do, don't pop these rolls into the refrigerator.  They need to be made fresh and served right away.  You can keep them at room temperature, covered, for an hour or so.  But refrigeration will cause the rice to harden, and reheating it along with the fresh mango wrapper is inadvisable.

Price can start at $400 and go up from there. Average price is probably around $500. Ammo cost can very from $0.20 to $2.00 a round depending. Most people probably spend $0.30 a round I assume.

Or just make them right now and eat them. 

Put your favorite meatloaf recipe into a muffin tin with or without liners . . or even a mini muffin tin to do meatloaf hor dourves ... Sweet. Then frost top with mashed potatoes, don't forget sweet potato is an option or get fancy with a veggie or root puree of some sort. Get creative with your meat and frosting. Mix crazy shit into meat and frosting, whatever. Decorate with little cut out of puff pastry or Sprinkles! 

Ideas

Bacon, sesame seeds, sunflowers seeds, roasted cherry tomato, carrot, peas, chive, parsley or whatever fresh or dried herbs, corn, some variety of cheese, mushroom, or dent the mash for a spot of gravy, or tint mash with food coloring to match festivities, you can also tint with ingredients themselves, did I mention Bacon.

As you can see the magical meatloaf possibilities are endless.

Kitchen Appliances + Pin-up Foodie=Pretty Tasty

I wish I had a house with a big kitchen to use, love and display this line up of matching jadite (or Red or White) appliances. Maybe someday I will have an available $12,000 to do that. After I find a couple hundred thousand to buy that house and install solar systems to provide heated water and energy to feed these devices. I'll have to figure out the stove though, maybe they would do an electric model? or I'll have to find a gas alternative that I can produce myself.  In my fantasy dream world we don't use fossil fuels and I have bigger boobs.

Modern energy efficiency, but look like they are from the mid-century era...Sweet.
